Maharaja - Amazed

Surprised to see a review in Amazon.in...

"Ironically, this book which goes through the ordeal of IAS aspirants has been published at a time when the UPSC has completely overhauled the syllabus of the civil services examination. Nevertheless the book gave me nostalgia in varying degrees. But, I don't know how i would have liked the book had i never been to Old Rajinder Nagar, in that sense, this book targets a niche of niche audience.

In the story the author is highly realistic about the experiences of a student in Old Rajinder Nagar especially the tiffinwalla's food, exorbitant rent and class fees,exam stress, insomnia before prelims, being heated up in an oven during mains etc etc and I feel this stems from the fact that the author, his wife and his elder brother are all civil servants.

The influence of mainstream Tamil Cinema is evident on the author's writing. The "rags to riches" formula has been altered to a "copycat to topper" formula. It makes one ask how the hell is it possible? But the same formula propels one to think "I CAN DO IT TOO" sort of vicarious feeling. In doing this the author has succeeded very well.

Hope he writes more and more books."

Many are behind me - inspiring, motivating and even troubling - asking about my next book. "Come on, its high time!" I am extremely thankful to them - for the simple fact that they haven't got bored with Maharaja. Their words make me to set the alarm at 6:30 in the morning. But beyond a point I am not able to manage multi-deadlines. (By the way, I have lost count of things I had planned to do this summer) I am trying to put things (read life) in place before I start to create something. Until then, every morning, I will be helplessly switching off the alarm to enjoy straddling the cusp of dreamy sleep and cozy wakefulness. But thank you all, I will continue to set the alarm at 6:30 AM.

"INSPIRING AND NOVEL!!!

ever since i came across the information on this book on news article I always wanted this but I was not able to get it from anywhere. DWM is actually a tremendous novel with unbelievable accuracy of its content.The data is so accurate and i could hardly remember any loophole or incorrect data.presentation of story is simple and effective.One of the things stand out in the novel is the the interrelating of the events.Only thing i thought could have been better had it been written from 'I' perspective instead of the view from a third person.

Landmark!

Yes! Middle row, fourth book is indeed Maharaja. 

Not very long back I was wondering if my book will find a place in Landmark or not. I remember making curious calls to the Chennai branches; I topped-up the calls with anxious visits to the outlet in the Skywalk Mall. I did not have any good news.

Surprises come without announcing. Obvious. I had a pleasantly shocking surprise this weekend at the Landmark, Forum Mall, Bangalore. Maharaja had not only found a place in Landmark; but it had found a place among Rice, Nilekani and CB! 

This is just beyond my imagination.

Maharaja - Smoking

The book (Dancing with Maharaja) provides good insight of life of IAS aspirants and their lifestyle. But i didn't like the use of excessive smoking content in it. This book should have warning on each page stating "cigarette smoking is injurious to health".

Maharaja - Chennai Launch

Lots of thanks to the chief guests and special invitees - Mr.V.Nandakumar IRS, Mr.Prashant M. Wadnere IAS, Shankar Ganesh IRS and Mr.Sargunam, film maker - for their time and talk. Happy that many could make it to the launch. It was in Shankar IAS Academy, Chennai two days back.

Special thanks to Mr.Shankar, Mr.K.Sridhar, Mr.Manimaran and the Shankar Academy team, for organising the event. The launch would not have been possible without them.
